The Project in Brief


The plan of making the city more attractive to tourists includes the execution of the following projects:
  • Improving the traffic of vehicles, pedestrians and bicycles.
  • Making good use of the royal and presidential palaces.
  • Improving the city's historical squares and creating more green spaces:
  • Build Open Air museum Alexandria, Les Belles Epoques 
  • Take advantage of the water front of the city. and preventing the permissions of using lands on the corniche except tourism projects with specific standards.
    • 1st project : Developing Alexandria's eastern harbor - a project presented by the Bibliotheca Alexandria.
    • 2nd project : Taking advantage of the presidential districts in Maa'moura.
    • 3rd project : The palace of A'aesha Fahmy and Rawas Land in Zizinia. the Two pieces of land that belong to the United Bank in Sidi Bishr.The Beau Rivage Land in Loran.
  • Cooperate with the UNESCO's World Heritage Project in :
    • Declaring the Educational District as a WHS (world heritage site) knowing that in this district stands and educational melting pot that shows the cosmopolitan nature of the city the early twentieth century.
    • Declaring the Waterfront of Maa'moura with it's unique architectural style as a WHS in period of modernity in the 1950s and 1960s.
  • International Cooperation with :
    • Erecting replicas of Cleopatra's obelisks that were granted to England and USA by Muhammed Ali. Holding joint Festivals between Alexandria and other cities that were granted the original obelisks - which will add to the city's aesthetic level as well as increasing the number of Touristic Landmarks. 
    • Regain the Sophisticated look of the French gardens in Ahmed Urabi Square. and refining the square back to the way it was with cooperation of France.

These Projects will divide the city into four areas for the tourists to see :
  • Alexnadria's Old Town
  • Educational District (Bibliotheca Alexandrina, El Shatby Neighborhood and its schools and university campus)
  • Zizinia and St. Stefano
  • Muntazah and Maa'moura
... this was the project in brief.
