Our Goal

The goal is to host the 2020 Summer Olympics in the city of Alexandria. Alexandria 2020 is the goal that will unite all the citizens of Alexandria.and The chance for Alexandria to win is very big; as the International Olympic Committee expressed strong interest in presenting this great event in Africa.

Main Struncture

Point 1 : Developing the Sports infrastructure and its facilities. Steps of which will be posted on this page after Consultations with the Egyptian National Olympic Committee (NOC).

Point 2 : Upgrading the city Culturally, Structurally and Aesthetically. as well as the standards living of the city's residents. which is the main goal of this project ! this will enhance tourism in the city. and that will raise the income to improve the city's services and raise the standards of living.

Point 3 : Touristically wise, Alexandra is a qualified city. and not a-one-day-touring-city as it's known for. (and this point will be explained later on). therefore, City Planning has to dedicate itself to enhancing tourism in Alexandria ... as it did in Sharm Al Sheikh's case.

- The Core of Alexandria's Tourism is :

1st) It's Good impression in the memories of the people. for example : if you asked a any European if he'd like to visit Cairo, the answer would be "No! But I'd love to see the Pyramids". However, If you asked them if he'd like to visit Alexandria, the answer would be completely different; for Alexandria has good reputation in the memories of the people - therefore, once you mention Alexandria , the first thing the comes to people's memory is the Cleopatra and Mark Antony's Alexandria as well as The beautiful, quiet, cosmopolitan and rich Alexandria of the early twentieth century.

2nd) Historical qualifications and sites that are untapped until now. Especially in the area between Ra'as Al Tin and El Shatby .

3rd) Fair weather most time of the year. and it's a coastal city that stretches for 70 km on the Mediterranean sea.

The Project in Brief

The plan of making the city more attractive to tourists includes the execution of the following projects:

• Improving the traffic of vehicles, pedestrians and bicycles.
• Making good use of the royal and presidential palaces.
• Ra'as Al Tin palace
• El Safa Palace
• El Muntazah Palace
• Former presidents Gamal Abdel Nasser and Anwar Al Sadat's Villas in Maa'moura
• Improving the city's historical squares and creating more green spaces:
• The four mosques square (Abul Abbas Al Mursy)
• El Manshia square
• Saa'd Zaghlul and Raml Station Squares.
• Al khaledeen Park and Al Qaa'ed Ibrahim
• St. Cathrine square
• Create/reveal The Education District Square.
• Build Open Air museum Alexandria, Les Belles Epoques 
• Take advantage of the water front of the city. and preventing the permissions of using lands on the corniche except tourism projects with specific standards.
• 1st project : Developing Alexandria's eastern harbor - a project presented by the Bibliotheca Alexandria.
• 2nd project : Taking advantage of the presidential districts in Maa'moura.
• 3rd project : The palace of A'aesha Fahmy and Rawas Land in Zizinia. the Two pieces of land that belong to the United Bank in Sidi Bishr.The Beau Rivage Land in Loran.
• Cooperate with the UNESCO's World Heritage Project in :
• Declaring the Educational District as a WHS (world heritage site) knowing that in this district stands and educational melting pot that shows the cosmopolitan nature of the city the early twentieth century.
• Declaring the Waterfront of Maa'moura with it's unique architectural style as a WHS in period of modernity in the 1950s and 1960s.
• International Cooperation with :
• Erecting replicas of Cleopatra's obelisks that were granted to England and USA by Muhammed Ali. Holding joint Festivals between Alexandria and other cities that were granted the original obelisks - which will add to the city's aesthetic level as well as increasing the number of Touristic Landmarks. 
• Regain the Sophisticated look of the French gardens in Ahmed Urabi Square. and refining the square back to the way it was with cooperation of France.

These Projects will divide the city into four areas for the tourists to see :

• Alexnadria's Old Town
• Educational District (Bibliotheca Alexandrina, El Shatby Neighborhood and its schools and university campus)
• Zizinia and St. Stefano
• Muntazah and Maa'moura
